Russian Women’s Attitudes About Wedding Rings

by John Kunkle

There are also misunderstandings about monetary terms between Russians and Americans:

For example, you go into the jewelry store and your Russian fiancé picks out a ring. You tell her that it is expensive. You mean that it is overpriced, or that it is more than you can afford.

She thinks you mean that that you cannot afford to buy her a ring and that she is not going to get a wedding ring. Russians think in black and white, not shades of gray.

She starts to cry and you cannot understand why. After you calm her down, you laboriously explain to her what your budget is for a ring. She still thinks you are a miser, but you make the purchase.

This may be the end of it or it may not.

Some Russians Have Kitschy Taste. I know one acquaintance that has purchased a wedding ring for his wife five times because he keeps imposing a budget on his wife.

He went to Fast Eddie’s Discount Wedding Rings first. His fiancé buys the biggest, gaudiest ring she can find for the money, but she doesn’t like it because she keeps comparing it to my wife’s wedding ring.

His fiancé buys the biggest diamond even though it is of poor quality. My wife has excellent taste. I explained to my wife when buying a wedding ring about diamond quality. I told her about quality versus size.

She picked a beautifully designed ring and a stone that was good quality and a reasonable size for the money. It was a little more than I wanted to pay, but it made my wife happy.

Her friend has somewhat kitschy taste. Big and gaudy is better in her mind. Yet when she keeps comparing it to my wife’s ring, she is unhappy.

She keeps pressing her husband to trade up. Eventually, she will get the ring she always wanted. But it will end up costing more in the long run than if he had just bought the right ring in the first place.

Do not buy a wedding or engagement ring in Russia. The choice is much better in western countries. Russians don’t have a tradition of engagement rings so she isn’t expecting one.

Wedding rings in Russia are simple gold bands. They do not have diamond wedding rings as a rule.

Buy her a wedding ring when she gets to America. Let her help pick it out so she is happy with it. Work within your budget, but…

Don’t go cheap because she will see what other women are wearing as soon as she finds her way around.

The general feeling that Russians have about westerners is that they are cheap. This is because they are always talking about money. Don’t reinforce her pre-conceived notions by being cheap.

When Russians hear a foreigner complaining about expenses all the time, they think he is greedy.

John has been married to a Russian women for over five years. He has travelled the path from finding her, to traveling to Russia, to bring his wife to America, and adjusting to married life. He will show you step by step how to do this yourself.

Wedding Bands: Commitment Till The Eternity!

by Javier Fuller

The wise saying goes, “The ring is round…and my love for you will never end!”

A good feeling accompanies the present that you give to anyone. The bridegroom’s present to the bride has lots of significance attached to it. They are not only presents, they are commitments!

Taken in this context, wedding bands and engagements rings are very special! They are more than symbolic items of jewelry. These are repository of life long commitment to love and trust.

Your sweet emotions and untold goodwill is involved in these presents. In fact, they are the secret barometers of love, commitment, fidelity and eternity.

The History of Wedding Bands goes back to the 15th century.
The royal and the affluent people needed some thing to exhibit their wealth during the wedding ceremony. Golden rings encased with precious stones became order of the day, during such important ceremonies like engagement and wedding. Gradually, it turned out to be a social custom.

Why the gift of ring only? Why not a pendant?
Deep, touchy emotions are involved in this exchange of gifts. The word eternal gets the respect of the throne in these moments of human bond! It is eternal love, eternal happiness, eternal unfailing commitment and eternal togetherness. Rings take the honor because rings signify eternity. It is twice-blessed. It blesses the giver, it blesses the recipient!

The ring is a circle, it has no break. It is without the end or the beginning. It is eternal. Eternal things are immutable and indestructible.

And do you know the direct route to the heart…the Grand-trunk road…the royal highway to the kingdom of love?
It is the fourth finger of your left hand. It is believed that it has a vein that leads directly to the heart. Therefore, both engagement and wedding rings are worn on this particular finger. The finger is thus the shortcut to her heart.

You can not think of a wedding without the wedding ring in any part on this planet thus!

Thank you, whosoever you are, for having discovered this direct route to the heart through the fourth finger!

And thank you for discovering only one route!

Wedding Ring: The Symbol Of Love

by Jasmin Pannu

With this ring, I thee wed.” Those words have long been spoken to signify a couple’s ever-lasting commitment to one another. The exchanging of wedding rings marks the beginning of a new life together for the bride and groom. A big day in the life of two people, yes the wedding day for which the preparations start from very long. A couples wedding day won’t be labeled as the big day for nothing. It definitely is something to look forward and to get prepared for well in advance.

According to some customs, the wedding ring forms the last in a series of gifts, which may also include the engagement ring, traditionally given as a betrothal present. Choosing the perfect wedding ring depends on what kind of ring you desire and what choices are available. Whether you prefer yellow gold, platinum, or white gold there is a vast assortment from which to choose. Even more important than how your wedding ring looks, is how it feels.

What can symbolize love and, of course, the wedding ceremony more than a diamond? Forget single diamond solitaires and boring gold bands. One of the hottest trends in wedding jewelry is to have rings custom. Most of the wedding rings are made up of diamond with a base of gold. Most people tend to choose a diamond wedding ring because it is believed that diamonds are women’s best friends and they are the best in impressing them. So because of such beliefs most wedding rings are diamond rings. Diamonds too give a number of options to choose on. Diamonds are available in different shapes, sizes and colors. The favorites are colorless or the pink diamonds. Their ability to shine more than the others give them a special place.

A perfect wedding is a collaboration of many things out of which one of the most important is a beautiful diamond wedding ring. Wedding rings are outward symbols of love and commitment, but they are also very personal possessions. With so many options available, look for something that reflects your personality and use this as an opportunity to express something about yourself.
